CHO Announces Charity Partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Trust
09 Mar
The Credit Hire Organisation (CHO), the trade body for the UK credit hire industry has chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as its charity partner. Kirsty McKno, the CHO Chair, said she was delighted to announce the new partnership, and looked forward to working alongside the CFT to raise money to help suffers of the disease.
CHO members voted for five charities, including incumbent Winston’s Wish, and the Trust topped the vote. The Trust will be the CHO partner for the next two years, and members will participate in a variety of fundraising activities to help the charity combat the life limiting condition.
Kirsty said: “I am thrilled that the CHO is to partner the Cystic Fibrosis Trust; it is a fantastic charity totally dedicated to helping people with cystic fibrosis (CF) and their families who have to cope with the condition. Some of our own members have families affected by CF, which brings added importance to what we do with the Trust.”
Dannii Hutchins, Community Fundraiser at the Trust, explained that cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting, genetic condition affecting more than 10,500 people in the UK. CF is something that you are born with – you cannot catch it in later life.
The faulty gene which causes CF, and is carried by 1 in 25 of us, controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells. People with cystic fibrosis experience a build-up of thick sticky mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, causing a wide range of challenging symptoms affecting the entire body.
She said: “We are so pleased that the CHO and your member companies have chosen us to work with. The support of the business community is vital, not just in raising money but also in educating the wider public about the condition and how it can affect families. The CHO’s partnership will help enhance our research into CF, so that we can gain a better understanding of how the gene affects people, and also how we can alleviate the symptoms for thousands people who have the condition.”
Kirsty added: “On behalf of our members, I’d also like to pay tribute to Winston’s Wish, our first ever partner charity, for their work with the CHO during the last two years. “We raised tens of thousands of pounds during that time, and learned a lot in the process which will stand us in good stead as we begin a new era with the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.”
