Charity Partner Donation
13 Nov
Earlier this week we announced that The CHO, on behalf of our members, would be donating £1,500 to our charity partner the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Following this donation, the Trust have asked me to pass on the below message to show their thanks and how the money will be used to help those affected by cystic fibrosis.
On behalf of the team here at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, I wanted to thank all the members at The CHO for your recent and generous donation to the charity. The money your group has donated will go a long way in supporting all those in the UK affected by cystic fibrosis (CF), at a time where it is needed more than ever. Life with CF is different for every individual, but with it comes a daily burden of treatment, medication and physiotherapy for everyone affected; the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is here for all the 10,500+ in the UK living with the condition, and we simply wouldn’t exist without supporters and donors such as yourselves.
Through donations such as yours, we can support people with CF today, who are either affected by the current situation, or are in need of a little extra support, by providing welfare grants. Money donated could also support those living with CF today through the Helen Barrett Bright Idea Awards, a support scheme for entrepreneurs in the CF Community, enabling them to create a career that works around their daily treatment regime; the latest recipients will be announced very soon.
The investment into people’s future is at the heart of what we do, with the majority of funds raised being used to fund ground-breaking, life-changing research across the UK and beyond. Today (11th November 2020), we announced funding for a new Strategic Research Centre (SRC) on gene editing, co-funded by the CF Foundation in the United States. For some people with CF, the mutation they carry means that there are currently no effective drugs that they can take to treat the underlying cause of their cystic fibrosis. Genetic therapies, and gene editing therapies in particular, are a focus of worldwide research into cystic fibrosis. Donations such as yours, make it possible for projects such as this to take place, playing a part in our mission to create a life unlimited by CF.
It has been a difficult few months for many recently, but we as a fundraising team are so humbled by the generosity and ingenuity of supporters across the country, and your donation is no exception. Thank you, to all of you, from all of us here at the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
