CHO to meet with MOJ over LiP Portal

As part of the continued discussion around the development, rules and release of the LiP Portal, The CHO have requested a meeting with Richard Hutchinson at the MOJ.

This request has been granted and a meeting had originally been arranged for Thursday 5th March, however unfortunately this has had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

Following meetings with the MIB and MOJ we understand that the portal is now due to go live on 6th August 2020. The rules will be reviewed with the CPRC, with the aim of being approved in May to give three months for all parties to complete any training and development required.

Children and protect parties will not go through the portal. These will be subject to fast track and the fixed costs regime in fast track, but will still only receive compensation under the tariff.

If there is a multiple injury claim, the system will automatically work on the injury with the longest prognosis in asking the claimant if they wish to accept the prognosis, then putting in a diary date at the end of the prognosis, should they wish to wait.

There is an intention for the MOJ and regulators to access all performance data and they will be analysing this closely.

Whilst The CHO awaits a new date for a meeting with the MOJ, we are interested to hear any specific questions or discussion for points that members may like to be raised. Please email any points or questions you may have direct to Matt.Rowland@thecho.co.uk.

Please note, whilst we will try to include as many points as possible in the meeting, depending on the volume of requests we may not be able to raise all of these.

Letter exchanges between The CHO and the Ministry of Justice can be found in the documents section of the members area.

The CHO will inform members once a new date has been arranged.
